Wellbeing in the workplace: Take notice

Stopping and taking the time to really take notice of what’s going on around us isn’t always an easy thing to do when life feels like it’s going at a million miles per hour. MIND says studies have shown being aware of what is taking place in the present directly enhances your well-being. Savouring ‘the moment’ can help to reaffirm your life priorities.

This can be true in the workplace too. Taking notice of both other people and the environment you’re working in can make a real difference. It’s why a one-size-fits-all approach to wellbeing isn’t the answer. It requires companies to really take notice and involve staff in the way things are done.

Our new Fit 4 Life initiative with Chesterfield Royal Hospital aims to improve the wellbeing of their staff by providing personalised one-to-one support to enable them to become more active. It comes after the hospital identified stress and general wellbeing as key reasons for people taking time off work.

Although they have a number of facilities for staff, such as changing rooms, showers and an outdoor gym, they noticed they were tending to attract staff who were already naturally active. Support from a Fit 4 Life advisor will be targeted to employees who might benefit the most – enabling them to be more active, happier and healthier.
